Celebrating Spoil Your Dog Day With Fido
August 1, 2023

Fido’s favorite holiday is just around the corner. August 10th is Spoil Your Dog Day! Our canine pals definitely deserve to be pampered a bit. Treats of course are at the top of the list here, but they aren’t the only way to get that cute tail going. Read on as a Champions Forest, TX vet lists a few things you can do to make Fido’s day special.

Cooling Pads

Texas summers can be scorchers. The hot weather can be rough on Man’s Best Friend. After all, he’s already wearing a fur coat! One thing that can help your furry buddy beat the heat is a cooling pad. There are different kinds of these. Some are like vests you can put on your pup, while others are more like pads you can put on his bed. Do some research before buying one.

Elevated Bed

Another thing you can do for Fido is get him a raised bed. Because air moves beneath them, these tend to stay cooler than regular beds will.

Shopping Excursion

Many pet stores allow their canine customers to come into their stores. If Fido is polite, calm, and well-behaved in public, take him shopping and let him pick out a new toy.

Water Fun

Does your pooch enjoy playing in water? Take him to a pet-friendly swimming hole! You can also get your furry friend a kiddy pool or fountain to play in at home.

Pet Mail

Subscription boxes have become quite popular in recent years. As it turns out, our canine companions enjoy them just as much as we do! Consider signing Fido up for a pupscription box of his own. Every month, your furry pal will get a box of goodies in the mail. As you can probably guess, seeing pups get excited over their deliveries is super cute.

Massage

Fido can get stiff and sore, just as people can. Your pup may enjoy a soothing massage. Book an appointment with a pet masseuse. Better yet, go all-in on a spa date, and book a bath and nail trim as well.

Treats

You can’t properly celebrate a doggy holiday without treats! Just stick with safe options, and don’t go overboard. Ask your vet for recommendations.
